The Danmal Mathur Museum situated in Mayo College, Ajmer, is an exemplary school museum in India. Established in 1948-49at the Jhalawar House, co-created by its teachers and students, the museum has evolved in multifarious ways over the course of its journey.
It showcases a diverse collection of over 8000 priceless objects across its eighteen galleriesencompassing natural history, geological specimens, arms and armoury, sculptures, miniature paintings, manuscripts, coins and currency, numismatics, tribal artefacts, textiles, and other household objects.
The museum is highly acknowledged for its representation of Mayo’s history through a rare collection of oil paintings and archival documents including photographs, letters and books.
