In-Charge : Mr Sunil Gupta
Scouting is one of the oldest activities of our School. It is running with a registered strength of 120 scouts, with Rajasthan State Bharat Scouts & Guides. There are three Teachers attached to this activity.
Scouting in Mayo College is limited to Class VII only. The Scout Troops remains busy throughout the year in conducting several activities both in the School and outside.
Camping, Camp Craft, Hiking, Back Packing, Sports, Scouts Craft, Nature Walk, Environment awareness, Care for Elders, Plant protection are some of its main responsibility. Scouting at Mayo employs the scout method, a program of informal education with practical outdoor activities.
Common way to implement the Scout method is to include having Scouts spending time together in small groups which share experiences of the activities they perform. We conduct several short talks by experienced scout masters on several topics like Internationalism, Harmony and Peace - to achieve one of our principles of world brotherhood.
Various initiatives are taken to train scouts towards achieving the aims of Scouting in Mayo College. These include development of activities that benefit the wider community and encourage tolerance of diversity. Such programs include cooperation with other Organizations including local NGO's.
Mr.Danmal Mathur the legendry scout master and the founder of Scouts in Mayo College has left a deep impact on this activity. He was honoured with a commemoration stamp in 2009. Mr.D.N.Mathur, his son, continues to support this activity from outside. He and Mr. N.P.Varma is also the life member of the Rajasthan State Bharat Scout and Guides.
Mayo College has the distinction to hold the biggest scout Camp(by any school) in Ajmer division. This also serves as model for other institutions.
